Learning COGS Without the Boring Bits

Engaging and simplified session on learning Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) with Synergy

Learning COGS helps you understand where your production costs go and how to manage them smarter. Every step in production matters when it comes to ensuring cost efficiency and accuracy. As part of its continuous internal development efforts, Synergy conducted another training session titled Optimizing Production Processes through HPP (COGS) Analysis – Batch 2 on September 19, 2024.

After the success of the first batch, this session was designed to help participants understand how to analyze Cost of Goods Manufactured (HPP) in a more practical and applicable way. The goal was to enable direct implementation within production and finance operations.

Learning COGS, Linking Real Operations to Numbers

Participants were encouraged to connect production data with accurate COGS calculation. The training did not only focus on numbers. Instead, learning COGS also emphasized the operational context behind costs that appear during production. This included discussions about real challenges and daily situations faced in the field.

An Informal Yet Insightful Approach

This session was led by Synergy’s CEO, who adopted an open and approachable style. As a result, the atmosphere became more relaxed, encouraging participants to ask more questions—especially about issues they personally encountered.

Each response from the facilitator was backed by real examples, helping participants clearly understand how theory meets reality. Many attendees described the session as not only useful but also easy to grasp.

Getting Strategic Without the Stress

During the session, participants worked through several simple case studies. These included identifying direct and indirect costs in production and analyzing how each type of cost impacted the overall COGS.

Through these exercises, participants discovered how COGS calculations could affect efficiency and business decisions. Discussions also explored possible optimization strategies based on the results of their analysis.

This approach proved especially beneficial for employees involved in production operations and planning, particularly when shaping long-term cost strategies.

Seeing Beyond the Numbers

Synergy aimed to equip employees with a more strategic view of production costs. The training emphasized more than just understanding numbers. It encouraged participants to manage costs efficiently and think ahead.

By the end of the session, participants were expected to contribute meaningfully to smarter, more data-driven decisions within their teams—bringing both clarity and direction to everyday business operations.
